My HD story

Time to be scrib something on to the web, yes wife and kid are in TN. Is it a big problem if they are here that I cant write anything? I dont think so and that can be solved so easily. But that is for the end.
  Ok begining of the real story. Lot of years back, when I was visting an electronic store in korea Scott my maager in AMI korea showed me a TV that was probably as big as my dining table (projection Tv) and called it a hidefition TV. He also told me that that is the future of TVs. I was not impressed about the size and thought of keeping monster at home. There was no content which was playing at that moment.
 That was my last trip to korea and I went to US of A which is laggard in technology and could not find a trace of it anywhere. I forgot about it.
 Suddenly the same beast appeared infront of me after a long time in Bangalore and the first time I saw it I was not impressed and infact I hated it. To simply put it in the words of a friend, the only benefit of a big Tv hanging on the wall was to get a feel of how magnificient Kushboo is while running the Jackpot. No pun intended :) It did not trick me again. The first hidef content I watched was playin NFS in a PS3 hooked onto a 40" in the demo area of the office. Sure graphics looked much bettter, but who would buy to connect it to 40k playstation which no one is going to touch.
        Then came ION revolution. I was not working on it at that time, but I stumbled on it for the first time in our QA lab and I would say it was love at first sight. It was playing hidef trailor batman. I just said how amazing is this technology. There were no bells or lights, but I was I was in love. Whenever I went to the QA lab I asked them, is there a new HD clip around?
   I decided to buy a HDTV with a PC. But where is the content? We can definitely join the Q, but if there is no show at end of the Q then why bother?  Also the falling prices of TVs and rapid improvements on the features of theTVs made me cautious. I told myself to hold my love for some more time before i could express it so that my love interest can take full shape.
   A lot of things happed in the mean period where lot of ION boxes showed up, all media players took up HW acceleration seriously, flash 10.1 was a reality, lots n lots of movies showed up in HD including Tamil titles and most importantly Indian DTH operators started to carry HD channels. So that is the time for a turn in the story. I decided to take the plunge. 
      I started thinking about good setup which would suit my needs. Need a PC to play any HD content which is thrown at it. I decided that it should be an ION. because ION is soemthing which is going to influence lots of tech forever. ION is not just Atom plus Nvidia GPU, it is a concept which convinced me and any body who uses it about what the future of tech will look like. I bought Acer Aspire revo ION machine with single core Atom 230. Just to proove the point I sticked with single core Atom.
   I was contemplating between Samsung and LG. As some people told me that LG is of value. I copied some HD trailers/clips over to my thumb drive and took it a service center so that they could play them. I was impressed by performance of Samsung midrange compared to LG's. That was the only samsung that showroom had. I decided on Samsung and thinking between series 5 and 6 and sizes of 32 nd 37. I decided for a 37" as it would give a real movie experince compared to the smaller sibling. With hooking of PC, the diff that boiled down between 5 and 6 series was Trumotion and when i saw it in action I decided not go for it. it makes movies look funny. I mean realistic :) But who wants to watch a real shoot, we want the movie experence. Sports may look good on Trumotion, but again you need that eagle eye to differentiate it. I dont think I have one.
I decided to pick up LA37C530 which would solve all my purposes and got my old Tv exchanged.
   Here is my full setup 1)37C530 which can playback lot of HD content and mp3 which can be plugged on to its own USB port 2)A Aspire Revo hooked to TV from where this blog is being written sitting in the couch using wireless KBD/Mice. I need to get HD set top box, but something else should show up other than discovery and national geogrpahic in HD. My guts says it will be soon. Hooking surround system will not make this a real theatre. I am reserving it for my future setup. I may add a sound bar to enhance the experience and I am going to see a trial of it.
    So now how do I solve the problem of being able to write more? I just need to do it on the go instead of sitting in the couch. Airtel please bring that 3G soon, and my dear folks please ship that Tegra2 phone sooner. My credit card is ready for that moment.
